Hairbands for Harper

Geez, I can't believe that months have past and I haven't posted a single thing to this poor blog of mine. The summer was crazy busy for me and now I am finally feeling a routine once more, with that said, I hope to be posting many projects I've been up to around here. Last night I whipped up these cute little hair accessories to send to my 4 mo. old niece. She started day care and I thought these would be great for her. Seriously, all the kids get back to school items, so why not off to daycare hair accessories (technically she has no hair so they should be called bald baby accessories). Well, gotta run and take my girl to dance. See you all soon...Promise

Spring Show

I just wanted to share some pictures of the pieces I took to today's Spring Show. I had an amazing time at this show. It was packed full of fun people and the business wasn't bad either. I had a few returning customers and that was exciting news in itself. It is such a great feeling to sit and chat with people who love your work, it makes a show so much better. I love my customers and all the charming people who lend their support to try and get your name out there.
This was also the first time my husband hung around and helped out. I was especially grateful he was there when it was time to tear down....love that he was helping some of the other vendors carry their stuff out, also. I did have to hear about him sacrificing his precious turkey season, just so he could sit and watch the booth while I went to the restroom. I'm pretty sure it was not the torture he was expecting....he was laughing it up pretty good with the kid next to us for most of the time he was there. Under all the stressful circumstances of the show it was all and all a good week. I should have known the week was going to be a good one when it started off with me picking up the new Stamper Sampler and seeing my work published in the mail call section. Let me just say, I don't think there is anything more exciting then seeing your name published along side of something you created. I can't imagine that will ever be something I would grow use to....I just get all giddy every time it happens, you know jumping up and down, repeatedly slapping my husband with the magazine while saying " look that's my name in a magazine aren't you just stoked your married to me ", my kids go to school telling everyone their mom was in a magazine, and the best is when my mom wants to see the magazine, so she can take it to work and show all her lady friends. So, I'm wondering if everyone who gets published feels the same way or if that tingly excitement fades after you've been published a few dozen times. This week was the 4th time for me, and it felt just like the first time I surprisingly found my name and work gracing the pages of my favorite magazine.
Wishing all of you a happy spring and a very creative week.

Look what I've been up to

A little worky worky in progress. I received my confirmation for the spring show this week and that means only 3 more weeks until my next show. The pressure always kicks in during the last few weeks of preparation. I've been hard at work for weeks, but it doesn't look like it.
I will have to take a few days off in the next few weeks due to another job and that has me a little stressed. I always get a little crazy when I have 3 jobs going at one time. I'm heading out tomorrow to do some painting on a duplex and praying the job goes quicker than I anticipate.
My kids are celebrating spring break without me and I am kinda sad I haven't had a whole lot of play time lately. Alright, enough of the sad me, because the kids have mostly been in and out today, my oldest daughter went with her grandma, son and youngest daughter went to the farm to put in a dishwasher for grandma and some shooting, and the 6yr old had a friend over for a play date. I love that I get to be home and create things all day, it is for sure a dream life. I did get some of the above pieces finally finished today, but there is still many more being worked on. I always get excited when the first coats of paint get going. I think magic happens when the color gets applied, the little critters just seem to come to life.
Counting my blessings this day. All my little woes are so petty in comparison to all those suffering from the Tsunami. Praying for all those affected by yesterday's earthquake in Japan.

Jewel heist

I scored some fabulous finds and I feel like it was robbery. I am totally psyched about all the jewelery pieces I found this past week. Now, I just need to get to work and show off some of these beauties on the new hair accessories I'm making. I think I'm going to set aside a few for a mixed-media piece I have bouncing around in my mind. I can't wait to get started, so off to work I go.

lamp revamp

This is the cute little lamp I picked up at Goodwill for 3$ and it just wasn't my style, so I had to do a little something to make it mine. I finished the shade last night and love all the ruffles. It took me a few hours, but it was well worth it. I still want to paint the base a grey/white color, but with all the snow and temperatures still pretty low, I think I'll wait on that one.

I know you are all curious about the painting peeking from the corner. My mom and I went to Denver about a month ago and my sister-in-law (Erika Jessop) gifted me this most awesome painting. I was in love with this piece the moment I saw it. I love the colors she is using and the painting on wood panel adds so much interest to this piece. I did get a little sneak peek at some other pieces and let me just say "WOW", I can't wait to see all her paintings finished.
If you would like more info on her, you can check her work out HERE.
By far the best part is, I get to enjoy this beauty everyday in my own home.

Thanks for stopping by

Bunnies

I finished these guys last week and haven't had a chance to post pictures, so here they are. Hope you enjoy. My kids have a snow day and are all home building tents in the living room. There are chairs sitting all over and blankets strung from chair to chair. I think I will lock myself in the studio today. Working on a few patriotic pieces, hope to have them finished soon.

Wishing all of you a creative week.

ladybugs & bumble bees

The little one and I are finally on the mend. We still have a little bit of a cough, but for the most part feeling tons better. This weeks inspiration is from Christyn's ladybug pillow.
Here are the latest additions to the spring collection.

Speaking of spring, it is almost 60 degrees out and the sun is finally shining. I can't wait to run around the yard with my kids playing frisbee or croquet and enjoying a picnic outdoors beneath the big maple tree. During the summer months, we always catch a few ladybugs, caterpillars, butterflys, and the ever so magical lightning bugs. Mostly, I do the gardening and the kids chase bugs. So, what are you mostly looking forward to in the warmer months ahead?
