Look what I've been up to

A little worky worky in progress. I received my confirmation for the spring show this week and that means only 3 more weeks until my next show. The pressure always kicks in during the last few weeks of preparation. I've been hard at work for weeks, but it doesn't look like it.
I will have to take a few days off in the next few weeks due to another job and that has me a little stressed. I always get a little crazy when I have 3 jobs going at one time. I'm heading out tomorrow to do some painting on a duplex and praying the job goes quicker than I anticipate.
My kids are celebrating spring break without me and I am kinda sad I haven't had a whole lot of play time lately. Alright, enough of the sad me, because the kids have mostly been in and out today, my oldest daughter went with her grandma, son and youngest daughter went to the farm to put in a dishwasher for grandma and some shooting, and the 6yr old had a friend over for a play date. I love that I get to be home and create things all day, it is for sure a dream life. I did get some of the above pieces finally finished today, but there is still many more being worked on. I always get excited when the first coats of paint get going. I think magic happens when the color gets applied, the little critters just seem to come to life.
Counting my blessings this day. All my little woes are so petty in comparison to all those suffering from the Tsunami. Praying for all those affected by yesterday's earthquake in Japan.

Jewel heist

I scored some fabulous finds and I feel like it was robbery. I am totally psyched about all the jewelery pieces I found this past week. Now, I just need to get to work and show off some of these beauties on the new hair accessories I'm making. I think I'm going to set aside a few for a mixed-media piece I have bouncing around in my mind. I can't wait to get started, so off to work I go.

lamp revamp

This is the cute little lamp I picked up at Goodwill for 3$ and it just wasn't my style, so I had to do a little something to make it mine. I finished the shade last night and love all the ruffles. It took me a few hours, but it was well worth it. I still want to paint the base a grey/white color, but with all the snow and temperatures still pretty low, I think I'll wait on that one.

I know you are all curious about the painting peeking from the corner. My mom and I went to Denver about a month ago and my sister-in-law (Erika Jessop) gifted me this most awesome painting. I was in love with this piece the moment I saw it. I love the colors she is using and the painting on wood panel adds so much interest to this piece. I did get a little sneak peek at some other pieces and let me just say "WOW", I can't wait to see all her paintings finished.
If you would like more info on her, you can check her work out HERE.
By far the best part is, I get to enjoy this beauty everyday in my own home.

Thanks for stopping by

Bunnies

I finished these guys last week and haven't had a chance to post pictures, so here they are. Hope you enjoy. My kids have a snow day and are all home building tents in the living room. There are chairs sitting all over and blankets strung from chair to chair. I think I will lock myself in the studio today. Working on a few patriotic pieces, hope to have them finished soon.

Wishing all of you a creative week.

ladybugs & bumble bees

The little one and I are finally on the mend. We still have a little bit of a cough, but for the most part feeling tons better. This weeks inspiration is from Christyn's ladybug pillow.
Here are the latest additions to the spring collection.

Speaking of spring, it is almost 60 degrees out and the sun is finally shining. I can't wait to run around the yard with my kids playing frisbee or croquet and enjoying a picnic outdoors beneath the big maple tree. During the summer months, we always catch a few ladybugs, caterpillars, butterflys, and the ever so magical lightning bugs. Mostly, I do the gardening and the kids chase bugs. So, what are you mostly looking forward to in the warmer months ahead?
